Mt Rawdon

Set in picturesque countryside in Central Queensland, the Mount Rawdon operation is located 15 minutes from the rural community of Mount Perry. Senior Metallurgist

LGL has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Metallurgist to join our team based in Mount Rawdon, Queensland. This role is responsible for managing metallurgical activities at the 100,000 ounce plant to ensure maximum recovery and efficiency in process and testing procedures. With several metallurgical projects planned for 2010-11 this role will be project focused, as the only Metallurgist on site you will need a demonstrated history of project delivery and ability to operate autonomously on site with the technical support of our Brisbane based Technical Service Team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Over see the management of the operation of the Laboratory;
  • Monitor and review plant and lab operational parameters;
  • Report and make recommendations to the Mill Superintendent based on operational information and trends;
  • Conduct and manage plant related projects;
  • Assist the Mill Superintendent in the preparation of budgets and forecasts;
  • Achieve budgeted targets in all lab related areas and projects;
  • Implement safety programs to achieve Zero Harm objectives and targets.

Key to your success will be your enthusiasm, commitment and positive attitude. Your application should demonstrate the required competencies, which are:

  • Recognised Metallurgist / Chemical Engineering qualifications;
  • Substantial mining experience as a Mill / Plant Metallurgist;
  • Demonstrated skills in report writing, spreadsheets, databases, costing systems, Budgets and forecasts;
  • Plants upgrade experience is favourable;
  • Communication skills and the ability to influence across site.

Your challenge will be to add value to environmental, processing and metallurgical processes and operations and find previously unrecognised value in the way we do business. An attractive remuneration package including housing and incentive bonus will be offered to the successful candidate.
